Personal columns

Footnotes: I began writing personal columns in 1973 at my first newspaper job on the News-Record in Gillette, Wyoming.

My first column was called Footnotes, meaning that what I wrote in my columns would be things that would add understanding to the day's news or current events of a public or personal nature. I continued to use the Footnotes title for the rest of my journalism career.

Most of my columns were published weekly in the Douglas County (Colo.) News-Press In Castle Rock, Colo.

An ongoing project is to build a collection of my favorites. See a sample here.
